Criteria For Canine Blood Donors
- Age: Between 1-7 years old
- Weight: Weighs more than 65lbs
- Disposition: Good temperament
- Blood Type:Must be blood typed, and be a universal donor (DEA-)
- Health Check: Up to date on annual Exam and Lab Work: CBC & Chemistry
- Disease Free: Negative heartworm test within the last year
- Prevention: On monthly preventative year-round (flea and heartworm)
- Medications: Not on medications for at least 2 weeks prior or have any preexisting conditions
- Vaccinations: Proof of up-to-date Rabies and DHLPP vaccines
- No Previous Blood Transfusions: Has never received a blood transfusion
- Donation Frequency: At least 90 days since previous donation
