Criteria For Canine Blood Donors

  • Age: Between 1-7 years old
  • Weight: Weighs more than 65lbs
  • Disposition: Good temperament
  • Blood Type:Must be blood typed, and be a universal donor (DEA-)
  • Health Check: Up to date on annual Exam and Lab Work: CBC & Chemistry
  • Disease Free: Negative heartworm test within the last year
  • Prevention: On monthly preventative year-round (flea and heartworm)
  • Medications: Not on medications for at least 2 weeks prior or have any preexisting conditions
  • Vaccinations: Proof of up-to-date Rabies and DHLPP vaccines
  • No Previous Blood Transfusions: Has never received a blood transfusion
  • Donation Frequency: At least 90 days since previous donation
